Nurse practitioners – This bill would establish the Advanced Practice Registered Nursing Board within the Department of Consumer Affairs, which would consist of 9 members. The bill would authorize a nurse practitioner who holds a certification as a nurse practitioner from a national certifying body recognized by the board who practices in certain settings or organizations to perform specified functions without supervision by a physician and surgeon, including ordering and interpreting diagnostic procedures, certifying disability, and prescribing, administering, dispensing, and administering controlled substances. The bill would also authorize a nurse practitioner who holds an active certification issued by the board to practice without supervision by a physician and surgeon outside of specified settings or organizations in accordance with specified conditions and requirements if the nurse practitioner meets specified education and other requirements, including completion of a transition to practice, as defined by the bill.
