A set of physicians, physicians’ groups and physicians’ assistants in Orlando sued Health First, a fully integrated healthcare corporation, for a monopolization scheme through which Health First allegedly attempted to use its market power to coerce physicians to join its organization. The judge denied Health First’s motion to dismiss in January 2015, and the case settled in August 2016 for $360 million on the second day of trial. Parrish Medical Center and other providers filed suit against Health First on August 27, 2015 in state court in Orlando, likewise alleging misuses of market power in contracting and exclusive dealing arrangements.
