Each district so established is a body corporate and shall be designated by the name of the rural health care district. In the name so selected, the district through its governing board may, among many things, employ or otherwise contract with physicians and other health care providers to provide health care services, including emergency medical services, in the district and any other persons necessary or desirable to effect the purposes of the district. The district may also construct, purchase or own a hospital and related facilities.
