Reimbursement For Telehealth Services: Concerning reimbursement for health care services provided through telehealth, and, in connection therewith, making an appropriation. First, the legislation prohibits health insurance carriers from limiting the technologies that may be used to deliver telehealth services, other than to require HIPAA-compliant technologies. Second, the law prohibits carriers from requiring a covered patient to have a previously established patient-provider relationship to receive medically necessary care from a specific provider.Third, the law precludes carriers from conditioning a provider’s reimbursement for telehealth services on any “additional certification, location, or training requirements.”
