Prescription drugs; directing the State Department of Health to design wholesale drug importation program. Effective date. SB 1912 directs the State Department of Health to design a wholesale prescription drug importation program in consultation with interested stakeholders and appropriate federal officials. The program must designate a state agency to either become a licensed drug wholesaler or contract with a licensed drug wholesaler, use Canadian drug supplies, ensure imported drugs comply with relevant laws and regulations, import only those drugs that will result in savings, ensure tracking and tracing requirements are met, include a robust auditing process, and prohibit the sale of drugs outside of the state.
