Mich. Comp. Laws § 500.108. Authorized, unauthorized insurer; definitions: The Insurance Code of 1956 – Michigan

As used in the Insurance Code of 1956: (1) “Authorized” insurer means an insurer duly authorized, by a subsisting certificate of authority issued by the commissioner, to transact insurance in this state. (2) “Unauthorized” insurer means an insurer not so authorized to transact insurance in this state.
