The purpose of KRS 304.14-600 to 304.14-625 is to protect long-term care insurance applicants from deceptive sales or enrollment practices, to establish long-term care insurance standards, and to facilitate public understanding and comparison of long-term care insurance policies. “Long-term care insurance” means any insurance policy or rider advertised or designed to provide coverage for not less than twelve consecutive months for each covered person on an expense-incurred, indemnity, prepaid, or other basis for one or more necessary or medically necessary diagnostic, preventive, therapeutic, rehabilitative, maintenance, or personal care services, provided in a setting other than an acute care unit of a hospital unless the hospital or unit is licensed or certified to provide long-term services.
