“Hospital billing transparency requirement: Each hospital, including hospitals designated as critical access hospitals, must disclose to each discharged patient within a week of discharge an itemized description of billed charges for medical services and goods the patient received
during the hospital stay. The itemized description of billed charges may not use terms that are indecipherable or are described as “”miscellaneous charges”” or “”supply charges.”” The hospital may not add a processing charge for the itemized billing.”
