Statute requires out-of-network facilities providing nonemergency services to provide the insured with a timely written out-of-network disclosure that states the care may result in additional charges that the insured may be responsible for and a estimate of the range of charges the charged by the out-of-network provider. If the out-of-network facility doesn’t comply with the statute requirements, it cannot balance bill the insured.
