Concerning reimbursement for health care services provided through telehealth and recognizes that the practice of telehealth is a legitimate mode of providing health care. First, the legislation prohibits health insurance carriers from limiting the technologies that may be used to deliver telehealth services, other than to require HIPAA-compliant technologies. Second, the law prohibits carriers from requiring a covered patient to have a previously established patient-provider relationship to receive medically necessary care from a specific provider. Third, the law precludes carriers from conditioning a provider’s reimbursement for telehealth services on any “additional certification, location, or training requirements.” See definition section Colo. Rev. Stat. § 10-16-102.
