The purpose of this act is to establish a procedure that promotes the orderly and economic development of health care facilities in the state of Illinois that avoids unnecessary duplication of such facilities and promotes planning for and development of health care facilities needed for comprehensive health care. Statutes address CON and state that cost containment and support for safety net services must continue to be central tenets of the CON process. Statutes state that anyone who wants to build a health facility or obtain major medical equipment must get a permit from the board, which will decide whether it is necessary. Statutes also require health care facilities to submit an annual report of all capital expenditures in excess of $200,000.
