Health insurance; requiring Insurance Department to investigate price of prescription insulin drugs; requiring health insurers to cap copayments for insulin. SB 1576 directs the Insurance Department to investigate the pricing of insulin drugs to ensure adequate consumer protections in pricing of prescription insulin drugs are in place and whether additional protections are needed. The Department is authorized to compile and analyze information concerning the organization, business practices, pricing information, data, and reports of companies engaged in the manufacture or sale of prescription insulin drugs. The Attorney General may issue a civil investigative demand to provide requested information to the Department, excepting trade secrets. The Department is directed to make the report public no later than November 1, 2021. The contents of the report are outlined by the measure.
