Purpose of these statutes is to modernize the laws governing physician assistant practice because of the growing shortage and geographic maldistribution of health care services in Louisiana, the rising cost of health care services in the state and nationally, and the need for primary health care by thousands of Louisiana citizens. Statutes authorize physician assistants to practice medicine within certain parameters.
