States that on or after January 1, 2016, health care providers shall determine whether an admission, procedure or service for nonemergency care is covered under his or her insurance policy before conducting the service. If the patient doesn’t have insurance or the provider is out of network, the provider must notify the patient the charges of the care, that they may be charged for unforseen services, and that the care would likely be deemed out of network.
