Requires that hospitals provide an itemized statement of charges to any patient receiving medical care or other services from that hospital. The statement must be provided by mail or electronically at the cost of the hospital after the hospital receives an explanation of benefits from the third-party payer (if any) indicating the patient’s remaining responsibility for the hospital charge. The statement must be marked “THIS IS THE BALANCE DUE AFTER PAYMENT FROM YOUR HEALTH INSURER” in bold; however, the statement may not include charges of physicians who bill separately.
