This bill establishes certain medical billing requirements concerning the specific nature of charges or expenses for health care services. It requires health care providers to provide patients, or their survivors or legal guardians, with a plain language statement or bill detailing the specific charges and expenses for the health care services received, within 30 days of the claim being adjudicated by the carrier. The bill also requires the State to adopt rules specifying the contents and disclosure requirements for these plain language statements or bills, ensuring consistency with existing laws on healthcare transparency. The bill will take effect 18 months after the promulgation of the implementing regulations.
