Statutes set out the requirements of short-term, limited-duration health insurance coverage. A health insurance issuer that offers short-term, limited-duration health insurance coverage shall provide the policy, membership booklet, description of appeals and external review rights and an outline of coverage to an applicant or enrollee. The policy shall display prominently that it doesn’t meet federal requirements to qualify as minimum essential coverage under the Affordable Care Act, that it does not include all essential health benefits, and that it doesn’t cover preexisting conditions. Policies must be filed with and approved by the Department.
